About me

Hi, I'm Miranda and here's a little bit about myself and how Hazy Sunshine Nails came about.

I'm a full time primary school teacher and up until quite recently, I generally made press-on nail sets just for myself and close friends and family, due to lack of time. But now that my daughter is a beautiful, independent woman (emotional but happy transitional times), I have found a little space in my life to expand my little hobby.

Anyway, here's a rundown of how all of this started, over 40 years ago...

I've had a complete obsession with anything nail related since I was tiny, when I looked forward to going to my Gran's house so that I could look at her nail varnishes in her kitchen drawer and dream of which colour I would use when I was a big girl (yes, it was just called nail varnish back then, how times and techniques have progressed!).

That feeling has never left me, the joy and excitement of a having a new set of perfectly coloured nails just puts me in the best of moods, but there has always been one BIG problem. I'm a nail biter. I always have been, and although I'm certainly not as aggressive with it as I used to be, I am never able to grow a natural set of nails that I'm happy enough to decorate and show off to the world.

So, for over 25 years I have used press-on nail tips and practiced nail art on myself. I have tried having acrylic nails, gel nails etc, but I just find that press-ons are much more convenient, both time wise and financially speaking! They also give me the freedom to choose whether I want to wear a set for 1 - 2 weeks or just for a weekend.

I've become pretty good at making them over the years (if I do say so myself) and after many requests, I started to make sets for colleagues and friends of friends, who have gone wild for them. I decided to open an Instagram account to show a few techniques on how to do nail art and have had such lovely responses, as well as many requests for sets to be made, which is why I thought I would set up a website.

I could not make enough sets to keep a website fully stocked (teaching is a fairly full on job...), so I have enlisted the help of a friend, but every set of nails I sell on here are hand made and all custom set orders that are placed will be made by myself as I love to make new designs.

And here we are! Me, with a website! If you managed to read all of this, thank you for your patience, you may need to go for a cuppa now.

If you have any more questions about anything nail related, my email is always open.
